Fall Transition Pieces

It’s FALL guys! It’s officially cold enough to turn the heat on in our house. And it’s also cold enough that I need to wear a bra for school drop-off … if you catch my drift.

There’s pumpkin spice everything and my life is complete. Chances are if you label it Pumpkin Spice .. I will buy it. Anyone in marketing – listen up. IF YOU LABEL IT PUMPKIN SPICE – MOMS WILL BUY IT. You’re welcome.

Fall is really my favorite season. It’s taken me 27 years to nail it down, but I finally feel confident in making that statement. If only Fall lasted longer. It really seems too short. … (That’s what she said ???) I know. I’m 11 years old.

I’ve often struggled making my closet function in the realm of pumpkin spice and everything nice. Like I was just wearing short shorts (and by short I mean knee length because I’m Mormon a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint?) but now they’re totally not appropriate because I refuse to shave and my leg hairs are glistening in the sunshine. It’s hard to transition your wardrobe from Satan’s armpit weather to crisp Fall weather. But I have picked my favorite transition pieces that help make that transition a little less crappy.

A good leather jacket will take you far in this transition phase! You can still wear that cute little summer dress – just pair it with a jacket and you won’t be miserably cold all day long. .. My husband says I have a 2 degree threshold wherein I am comfortable … he’s not wrong.  I could most likely use the leather jacket all year long but it’s socially unacceptable between June and August so I’ve been hiding it in my trunk the last few months.  But for those of you who have a normal internal thermometer, you can use the leather jacket now!

Mules! Mules mules and more mules! This is the holy grail of versatile shoes.  It matches the aforementioned cute summer dress, as well as the basic girl chunky sweater and starbucks cup outfit.  This was my favorite shoe to bring to Europe because I had no idea what to expect as far as weather but this loafer matched 95% of everything I packed … which was 85% of my actual closet. True love is the husband that trims down his packing to fit into a small corner of his suitcase so you can have the remainder for the crap that didn’t fit into your own 50 lb checked luggage.  #hesakeeper Also – these Gucci knock offs are on the cheapy cheap! Shhh.

Cardigan.  Need I say more?  This slouchy balloon fit cardigan is my new best friend.  I can throw it on with sweats and make them look chic – or throw it on a legit outfit and make it … warmer.  Both favorites.

Steve Madden is one of my good friends.   Well … he may not know it .. but we’re past a first name basis.  We’re on, like a, naming him as the emergency contact at my kids’ school status.  So naturally I wear all his shoes.  If he makes it, I trust it.  These sock booties are no exception.  One of my favorite ways to transition to Fall weather is to break out the booties.  Pair them with dresses, jeans and a t-shirt, or go full Alaskan and pair them with your parka and mittens.  They’ll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour.  They’ll be there for you, like they’ve been there before.  Oh, and they’re 20% off right now! Run friends!

My most used favorite transition piece is a good v-neck!  I’ve linked my favorites below because I am pickkkkky when it comes to v-necks.  As a gal with a less than ample bust, v-necks can be tricky.  I hate constantly pulling it up or down or worrying that my cat and jack bra is showing.  So after trying a 52 different brands – I’ve found my favorites.  And they’re most definitely necessary during this transition period. With joggers, with a cardigan, with a flannel button-up.  … With or without a bra … Have it your way.

There you go my friends! Now go enjoy this perfect weather before it ends … in a week.
