Rodan and Fields Review

Raise your hand if you have perfect skin. … If you have your hand raised go ahead and lightly slap yourself on the cheek… Ok.  I feel better.  I still love you if you have perfect skin – but it’s more of a love/hate relationship.  I hate you a little bit because I do NOT have perfect skin.  Well, hate is a strong word … but I really really really don’t like you or your perfect skin.

I suffered from the normal hormonal acne in high school.  It was my forehead that bore the brunt of my pimples but luckily, my forehead had a convenient hiding place under my bangs.  After the death of my acne, may it rest in peace .. I just dealt with the regular pimple here and there, usually accompanying Aunt Flo .. if you catch my drift.  So other than my womanly right-of-passage, the monthly blemish, I haven’t had any issues with acne since my “brace-face pizza face” days.

I wish I could say that I haven’t had to deal with acne since then therefore, my skin is flawless.  Unfortunately, I have other skin issues.  Enter my arch-enemy rosacea.  Ever heard of her?  She’s evil.  Because of my redness, I have zero confidence in my bare skin.  I NEVER let Stefan see me without makeup before we got married.  I had to have him legally bound to me before I exposed my naked face.  At the time, I was 99% positive he would have broken off our engagement had he seen that side of me prior to our marital union.  Of course now he says “you look better without makeup baby”  in none other than his “I would die for Riley” voice and leather jacket.  Is that something someone pays husbands to tell their wives? Are all of our dad’s secretly slipping them cash to keep this lie going? Or better yet, who pays the boy bands to serenade this beautiful lie to all the young girls (and older girls .. no judgement here.  I listen to One Direction too) in the world? Either way, I have always felt uncomfortable without makeup.  It’s always been like 50 shades of crimson under this face full of foundation and concealer.

Well, recently I have felt compelled to DO something about this face only a husband could love.  It’s like voting, you can’t complain unless you do something to try and change it, right? (I don’t know – I read something like that on Facebook.  My one stop source for political truth).  I had been hearing a lot about Rodan and Fields.  After seeing some incredible before and after pictures, I contacted my friend Kayleigh and asked her to give me to low down.  Together, we identified my main concerns with my skin.  #1 being the redness.  #2 being the loss of firmness.  Prior to trying R&F, I felt that my makeup never lasted a full day. Between my ginormous pores soaking up all my foundation and the redness showing through, I couldn’t even FAKE flawless skin for a full day. I have tried several high-end products and could never find something that I was happy with by the end of the day.

Since trying Rodan and Fields, I have felt so much more comfortable in my skin.  I have noticed a dramatic change in the level of redness and rosacea.  I would actually go outside without a full face of foundation now.  That’s HUGE for me.  I’ve also noted the change in size of my facial pores.  It has made a huge difference in how my makeup wears all day long.  It doesn’t all soak into my spongey face – instead it lasts all day and still looks wearable in the evening.  I have honestly had several nights where I am debating with myself in the mirror whether I should take my makeup off before bed because it still looks pretty.  I snap some more selfies and then try to talk myself into it.  (I also have to bribe the girl in the mirror with candy to brush her teeth before bed… we have a really healthy relationship.)  The differences I have seen with R&F have totally increased my confidence. It may seem silly, but I think it’s truly hard to love the skin you’re in (literally sometimes).  As women, we can be overly critical of ourselves and point out all of our flaws on a daily basis.  We wonder how someone could like us or even love us “just the way we are”.  I love a product that will help me feel more confident about myself because I forget, daily, how awesome I am.  True beauty comes from loving yourself and finding that confidence.  I’m slowly trying to figure that out.

My friend Kayleigh, my Rodan and Fields consultant, is offering a special giveaway to my readers!  Anyone who enrolls as a preferred customer, or refers someone who joins her growing team as a consultant during September will be given a free mini facial – this will help you achieve the essence of a babies bottom all over your face ladies and gentlemen.  To enter – E-mail her at [email protected].
