Skip Hop Diaper Bag

When I was a little girl – I desperately wanted to have a collection. My sister collected Winnie the Pooh teddy bears (sorry Brittney, I just couldn’t pass up sharing this detail in this post).  Back in the 90’s – collections were the shiz. If you didn’t have a collection of something, your social approval rating was likely a negative.  The thing about most collections is that they evolve organically. But my impatient 8 year old self was not willing to wait for my collection to come about by happenstance. So instead of letting a collection come to me – I sought it out. Literally. I rashly decided that since I already had 2 stuffed turtles that I would further this collection of turtles. And in fact I think I went to Wal Mart that day and purchased anything I could find that was “turtley enough to be in my turtle club” .. aka my sad desperate collection.

What I didn’t realize at the time (and I dare say my sister made the same mistake) was that I would quickly outgrow turtles, as would the entire 3rd grade, putting myself in a line-of-fire socially speaking.  But since my whole family had been notified of my love for turtles, I continued to receive gifts and souvenirs in the form of … you guessed it. Turtles.

I wish someone would have told 8 year old Jamie to resist the urge to collect anything. I had to learn the hard way that this desperate desire was actually onset stages of hoarding.  A condition I now suffer hard core from.

My most significant collection these days is my diaper bag collection.  On a side note: how many times will I use the word collection in this post? I’m giving myself a headache repeating it so frequently.  You know how when you say a word so many times it starts to sound weird? Or if you write it several times it starts to look weird? Like fork? You say it a bunch of times and then you think .. who even made up this word it’s so freakin’ weird! That’s how I feel about the word collection right now.  Woof.  Anyway, this is my life.  I find joy in collecting bags responsible for toting disposable underpants.  Pants that your kids crap in.  That’s what’s in my many collectible bags.  That and wipes.  The Swiss Army Knife of any diaper bag .. am I right?

The Skip Hop Chelsea Backpack is my absolute favorite diaper bag.  Actually, out of my top 5 diaper bags, Skip Hop makes 3 of them. I love their bags! They’re all so darling and their price point is so attractive. Seductive almost. Hence why I have 4 of their bags.  It’s so provocative the way they just flaunt their dirty price tags and look so appealing.  This one is my favorite #1 because of the size.  It is so spacious inside, which of course translates into: more room for hoarding.  Candy wrappers, McDonalds toys, earring backs, batteries, a crocheting hook, probably an old old tube of lanolin from the hospital the day I delivered, and undoubtedly some Chick-Fil-A receipts.  Obviously the amount of space this bag is equipped with is most neccesary.  The #2 reason this bag is my numero uno is because it is a backpack! Hello! Think of all the free hands you get when you strap your diaper bag to your back! That’s 2 free hands mommas! And it won’t swing down and around when you lean over to pick something up like every other over-the-shoulder bag (rolling eyes emoji).  #3 is the stroller straps.  Most Skip Hop bags come with these and they are genius.  When I am grocery shopping, I don’t have to waste the cart space for my suitcase I mean my diaper bag.  Space comes in handy when you are grocery shopping for 4 and have a previously mentioned hoarding condition. It straps to the push bar and makes for convenient snacking while I shop.

I love this bag so much! Put it on your Christmas list.  And by that I mean your Christmas in July list. And then go buy it for yourself because Christmas in July already passed and you forgot to get yourself something silly! Better late than never right? Merry Christmas!
