I have been self conscious about my smile since … forever. It could be because I wore braces for 8 years. Yeah. You heard that right. EIGHT! I wore braces longer than I have been married for pete’s sake. Those were the worst years of my life. Not only did I have railroad teeth, but I also had 4 eyes, pizza face and the cherry on top, a flat chest. I was the epitome of puberty. But for thrice the amount of time most kids go through said puberty. That being said, I am very grateful my mother put me through 8 years of tightening, rubber bands, no popcorn or caramel and floss threaders to fix my crunk teeth. I love you Mom!
Even though the train tracks came off my teeth, I still feel a little hesitant to .. literally .. grin and bear them sometimes. Annie taught us that you’re never fully dressed without a smile. A smile is an important feature to a face! It’s also one that can easily boost our confidence or, just as easily, break it down. After my 8 year sentence of dental prison, my teeth were hammered. I had 11 cavities, 3 of which needed root canals.
